MODULE 5 ASSIGNMENTS
MODULE 5: CHARACTER DRAWING WORKFLOWS
Module 5 Assignment 1 (M5A1): 4 Stage Workflow Drawings
Recommended Time Investment: 2-6 HoursRecommended Frequency: Daily/Every 2nd Day
Using what you have learned in Module 5, take some time each day to draw a character using the 4 stage workflow, as well as using all learned theory so far. I would recommend doing at least 20 character drawings using this workflow. It will take some time for you to get used to this idea, but these steps are crucial before moving into the 2 stage workflow. Speed comes with drawing experience, drawing experience comes with more drawings, and to do more you need to draw fast! So, be patient, do your daily drawings, and then when you are feeling more confident, move onto Assignment 2 below.
Module 5 Assignment 2 (M5A2): Two Stage Workflow Drawings
Recommended Time Investment: 2-6 Hours
Recommended Frequency: Daily/Every 2nd Day
Once you have gained some experience in drawing using the 4 stage workflow, try to envision and draw utilizing just a two stage workflow. Re-watch the Module if needed, and attempt to do 5x Character Drawings utilizing just two stages – rough and refined.
REMINDER: Don’t worry too much about ‘looks’ at this stage, but rather theoretical correctness and grasping what you should be thinking about in each stage. After module 6 you will have advanced knowledge on dynamic character posing and composition, so for now, try to get the workflows down! Also, don’t be discouraged! Every work you produce is not an end in itself, but a mark of progress on your journey.
