Hi Students!
This document is here to help you adapt to changes in the WordPress systems I teach in the following video. I'm currently updating the video content, but this will hold you over in the meantime!
In the following video, we use the Clef plugin to set up a Two-Factor Authentication system for your WordPress Logins. This type of system helps to avoid using server resources to block login hacking attempts, and it also makes your website a lot more secure.
Two-Factor Authentication means that users need to have two items securely matched to the website, instead of just one. A password is the first factor, and using an application in your smartphone to provide a secondary authentication is the second. If a user doesn't have a smartphone, they can use an email system verification instead in some cases.
So, instead of trying to find the Clef Plugin which has been discontinued, or use the Google Authenticator Plugin which isn't currently updated, I recommend you use one of the following:
Any of these can be installed and set up through your WordPress Dashboard, and provide Two Factor Authentication for free.
